چکیده

A random field composed by Poisson distributed Brownian vortex filaments is constructed. The filament have a random thickness, length and intensity, governed by a measure γ. Under appropriate assumptions on γ we compute the scaling law of the structure function and get the multifractal scaling as a particular case.

Vortex filament simulation of the turbulent coflowing jet

A high resolution grid-free vortex filament scheme is applied to the prediction and simulation of coflowing round jets with a view to acquiring a new perspective on their physics and establishing the validity of the numerical technique. Vortex loop removal at inertial range scales provides a nondiffusive model of local dissipation that remains compatible with the presence of backscatter. Consis...

Explicit Mean-field Radius for Nearly Parallel Vortex Filaments in Statistical Equilibrium

Explicit radius for nearly parallel vortex filaments in equilibrium 1 Geophysical research has focused on flows, such as ocean currents, as two dimensional. Two dimensional point or blob vortex models have the advantage of having a Hamilto-nian, whereas 3D vortex filament or tube systems do not necessarily have one, although they do have action functionals. On the other hand, certain classes of...

Geometry and Topology of Finite-gap Vortex Filaments

In this talk, I will discuss the vortex filament flow, and its connection with the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS), the geometry of solutions to the filament flow that correspond to finite-gap solutions of NLS, and in particular, the relationship between geometric properties of the filament to features of the Floquet spectrum of a periodic NLS potential. These will be illustrated by the ex...

Path Integral Monte Carlo Applied to Nearly Parallel Vortex Filaments

The Nearly Parallel Vortex Filament (NPVF) model has a wide range of applications from classical fluid turbulence to electron plasmas to superfluids and Bose-Einstein Condensates. Ceperley’s Path Integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) algorithms provide an excellent tool for calculating the statistics of these systems in equilibrium, as Sen, Trivedi and Ceperley showed for flux lines of type-II supercondu...

Motion of a Vortex Filament in Superfluid He: Effects of Friction Force in the Hall-Vinen Phenomenological Model

The motion of a vortex filament in superfluid He is considered by using the Hall-Vinen phenomenological model for the scattering process between the vortex and thermal excitations in liquid He. The Hall-Vinen equations are formulated first in the intrinsic geometric parameter space to obtain insights into the physical implications of one aspect of the friction term, associated with the friction...
